Ken Watanabe's first International Fan Club

Welcome to Ken Watanabe Worldwide Fans, international fan-club for actor Ken Watanabe. He has starred in popular movies such as The Last Samurai, Tampopo and Kizuna, and TV series like Masamune the One-Eyed Dragon, Gokenin Zankuro and Suna no Utsuwa. Before The Last Samurai, many of us outside Japan had never heard of Ken Watanabe. Now that's all changing...

See the fan-club page for membership information, including the fan-club newsletter, Watanabe Zensen. You may also want to read the fan-club's Privacy Policy.

Also, I recently recovered from a long illness (not to mention a myriad of related and unrelated issues and emergencies). I made an announcement several weeks ago that I was ready to re-open the fan club, and that I would get new membership cards along with the first issue of Watanabe Zensen in the mail in about one to two weeks.

I read a whole bunch of news articles about five possible upcoming movies, including three for which Ken was said to already be assigned a role. Trying to verify this information took a long time because my emails to ROAR kept bouncing back. I wondered if perhaps the agency had changed business names, and even if they still represented Ken (because I read he moved to New York). I did not want to print the newsletter with false information about either upcoming works or wrong information on Ken's representatives here and in Japan. I finally contacted them by phone on a day when I was home at a reasonable (California) time.

Please see the news links above, especially the Coming Soon page. Some of those article-writers on the Internet are confused (yet again). I have the official word from ROAR! I will finish the newsletter Monday and possibly Tuesday, and get it in the mail on Tuesday, and it will include a review of Memoirs of a Geisha, which I saw in Boston today.

I have links to some great, recent video of Ken, both English and Japanese, plus news and reviews, that I will post as soon as I can. Obviously, the newsletter takes first priority. Stay tuned! (Please be advised that any pages that do not have this black/white/blue-grey theme are old and haven't been updated in a very long time.)

Sincerely,
